(Following is the content of a handwritten statement handed over to the Sr. Inspector in-Charge, Khar before they arrested me. They could have easily got the printout of my mobile no, within hours, and found out, whether, I has telling the truth or the Bank Officers. Till to-day they have not bothered to get the printout from ORANGE, because now they know they are in trouble)

From filling of tenders  with Joint Committee (PNB/BOBL) on 15/2/05 till receiving Key from Mr. Datta.

Mr. Mihir Datta Cheif Manager, Bharat Overseas Bank  was trying his best to see that someone named Mr U Chavan got the flat, though he was ready to pay much less than me. I submitted my bid by 15th Feb. 5 pm, as per tender terms. Mr. Datta got the date extended to 17th Feb. Tenders were now scheduled to open on 18th Feb. On 18th Feb. he remained absent & 19th Sat. also he remained absent.

21st February: Around 11:30 AM: Mr Datta called me on my mobile (98201 71571), saying he is speaking from Mr. Gupta's cabin & Mr Gupta is sitting across. He demanded Rs 4 lacs additional to my bid, for garage. When I protested, he banged the phone down. (Mr Gupta is his Sr.)

21st February: Around 6 PM: I met Mr Datta in his office & he demanded Rs 5 Lakhs in cash. He said he has never taken a bribe in his life, it was for someone higher up.

22nd  February: 11:30 AM: I apprised mr, Sreenivasan (PNB) of the developments. Mr Sreenivasan called up Mr. Datta & informed him "Mr. Chhugani is willing to pay Rs 1.5 lakhs for the garage, which is fair". Datta insisted he wanted Rs 2 lacs. I asked Mr. Sreenivasan to say yes to Rs 2 lacs. Thereafter Mr. Datta increased the demand to Rs 2.5 lacs.

Mr Sreenivasan told him "I cannot understand what U are upto". Mr Datta was unaware, I was with Mr. Sreenivasan.

22nd February: Around 3 PM: I called up Mr. Datta. He said now he would accept nothing less than Rs 5 lacs for the garage. Next he said "We will call tenders again after 6-8 months".

22nd February: Around 6 PM: I informed Mr. Bhan & Mr. Alok Sr. Managers of PNB about Mr. Dattas antics. They told me  "It is best if U buy 501,502 and garage together, but if you are ready, we are willing to sell only 502 to you. Inform Datta and bring the drafts to-morrow". I immed sent an SMS to Mr Datta & Mr. Gupta and got the drafts made next morning.

23rd February: 11:30 AM: Mr Datta met Mr. Alok (PNB) and discussed the whole issue for over 2 hrs (while I waited outside) at the end of which, PNB sent by fax some letter to BOBL.

24th February: Afternoon: I called up BOBL HO at Chennai from
3951 6149. However Mr. Parthasarathy was not available. (Phone record available). I then called up Mr Datta & told him, he will not be able to extract even Rs 10/- out of me. Angry words were exchanged and Datta told me "Without my cooperation, you will never get this flat, even if you pay Rs 1 crore". Further he added "I will throw you out of my office, when you come here". I ended by saying "I am coming in the next 1 hour".

While I was in train, I got a call from the Palton Road Police Station (Ph. No. 98211 40010). The Police Inspector informed me about Datta having come to register a NC against me. I told the Inspector "Mr Datta is a mad man, he wants Rs 5 lacs from me, when my bid is the highest".

I then went to PNB office and apprised Mr Alok, Cheif Manage, PNB, about the police complaint. Mr Alok/Mr. Sreenivasan asked me to bring drafts for 501 next day & I did just that, They also asked me to speak to BOBL Chennai HO.

25th February: I called up Mr. Parthasarathy (Sr Manager of BOBL) at Chennai ( Ph record available), who asked me, if I could give the statement in writing. YES I said. He told me "I will ask Mr. Gupta to contact you".

25th February- 10 PM: I got a call from Mr. Sreenivasan (PNB) (98205 34129) on my number 98201 71571. He informed me "Mr. Datta and Mr. Gupta had come to PNB and requested me to use my good influence & speak to Chhugani not to give a written complaint. Mr Datta will loose the Job". He spoke to me for over 10 minutes, I said to him "let Datta meet me to morrow".

26th February: Datta met me next day at a restaurant near his office, apoligised again, again and again and was willing to touch my feet, he offered to bring the keys next day. Which offer I gratefully accepted.
