On 31st December
2007, Lord Shiva invited all the Gods for a New
Year's Eve party, at his abode somewhere high up in
north India at Mount Kailash.
Amongst the gods who
attended, were well known ones Ganesha, Laxmi, Durga,
Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh and over 62 others.
While the party was on
and plenty of food was being consumed along with
exotic drinks which we simple mortals have never
tasted, Parvati (Shiva's wife) sidled up to Lord
Brahma, known as the creator. She asked Lord Brahma,
"Why is it that from amongst the hundreds of
locations on Earth, you created a beautiful portion
called Bharat, where you provided everything, good
rivers, fertile land, different seasons, lovely
mountains, vast coastline, attractive beaches, very
intelligent people, is it not unfair to other
countries".
Lord Brahma had a
smile on his face and said "I have been fair to
all countries, true I have provided a lot to the
portion of land called Bharat, but to balance
everything, the intelligent brains that I have
created for the population, have a flaw. So these
people are meek and weak, they allow outsiders to
rule them, first it was the Moghuls, then the British
and now a segment of their own people who are most
corrupt rule their lives, because this flaw in their
brains, does not allow them to fight for their own
rights". Parvati was extremely shocked and
thought it wise to say nothing.
After the
party was over, on 1st and 2nd January '08,
Lord Shiva found Parvati very quiet and urged
her to tell him, what was disturbing her.
After much persuasion, she informed him about
the conversation she had with Lord Brahma at
the New Year's Eve party. After discussing
the situation, Lord Shiva decided to meet
Lord Brahma in the evening.
So on 2nd
January 2008, Lord Shiva and Parvati ignoring
their Bajaj scooter got into the new yellow
coloured Nano car provided by Ratan Tata and
drove over to Lord Brahma's abode a few
thousand kilometers away.
Lord Brahma was surprised to see Lord Shiva
and Parvati arrive and after an animated
discussion about the great new Nano car
received from Bharat, all three went inside
the mansion.
Lord Brahma initially
showed a mock defiance to any change to be brought
about in the brains of the people of Bharat, as
suggested by Lord Shiva, to make them strong and
fight for their rights, but later said, "I was
surprised that Parvati did not ask for these changes
on 31st night itself at the party."
Finally Lord Brahma said, "Let us see how the
population of Bharat behave in 2008. Do they fight
for their rights to have a corruption free
bureaucracy and a decent police force? After all it
is a well known fact throughout the universe - 'Gods
help only those who help themselves' so let's observe
for the next 362 days, if the people of Bharat take
some steps to fight the wrongs, we all will do
everything to help them fight the corrupt".
So friends, let us make 2008 a memorable year. The
year in which the mindset of our countrymen changed
and fight against corruption gained such momentum
that the corrupt started shivering. Help from the
God's you can definitely count on ...
